Sometimes you meet a couple and you can just tell they were meant to be. I had the pleasure of photographing Evan, Evette, and their daughter Jade earlier this month. As a photographer, you get a chance to step back and just let your subjects be themselves. Watching Evan and Evette behind the lens, I could tell they had a strong bond and most importantly, a friendship and love for each other that glowed. This positive energy made for a great photo session and of course beautiful images.
I met Evan and Evette through an amazing and talented photographer friend Jeri Houseworth. Evan and Evette live in Maryland but are getting married this summer in New Jersey. Jeri is photographing their wedding but recommended me to photograph their local engagement session (thanks Jeri!).
After some discussion via email and phone, we settled on a location- Old Ellicott City. It was a blistery cold day but we managed to capture some great images. The couple’s beautiful daughter, Jade, also came along for the session and she was such a trooper! Even though it was freezing out, Jade always kept a smile!
Here are a few sneak peek images from the session!
I love photographing in Old Ellicott, the area is rich in history and the variety of colors and textures are always fun to experiment with!
Evan is originally from New Jersey and Evette is from Texas. They first met through match.com and had found a great connection and after a few dates the rest they say is history. BTW, Evan and Evette are the THIRD couple I’ve had the pleasure of photographing who’ve met through Match! A true testament that the site does work!
We found an old theatre off of Main Street that had a big letter “E” in the middle. Couldn’t have been more perfect for Evan & Evette! We stopped traffic to snag this image!
They looked into each other’s eyes,
He brushed the hair from her face,
She giggled, blushing in his warm embrace…
Okay, so I’m not the best poet, but seriously, how cute are these two??
Nestled in the heart of Westminster is a beautiful place enriched with history and filled with old country charm called the Carroll County Farm Museum. I met up with Veronica and Eddie there for their engagement session in early October. Veronica (aka Roni) is an old college friend and former teammate. We used to cheer together in college, in fact, she used to be one of my bases- needless to say she is a super strong woman! I was so happy for Roni when she announced her engagement to Eddie and so honored when they asked me to photograph their wedding! If you haven’t ever visited the Carroll County Farm Museum, I would highly recommend it for an educational family outing!
Watching how Roni and Eddie interacted during our shoot, I could tell that they were truly in love and simply put, soul mates. They made each other laugh and you could just see it in their eyes how happy in bliss they are. Roni’s warm and bubbly personality, paired with Eddie’s charm and humor, made for such a fun photo session!
Seriously, these two are gorgeous together!
Thank-you Roni & Eddie for allowing me to do a little experimenting on our shoot and even agreeing to run through the forest! Looking forward to capturing your big day! Much love!
The old saying goes, April showers bring May flowers. This past week has been full of rain showers but we got lucky last Saturday when the rain held off during Justine and Matt’s engagement session. The trees and flowers were in full bloom and the overcast day made for great photos.
I met Justine and Matt through a photographer friend, Jeri Houseworth. Both Justine and Matt are teachers who live in Maryland. They are getting married in New Jersey, Justine’s home state, this coming Fall and Jeri’s company is photographing their wedding.
We kicked off the session in Savage Mills. I love photographing there since there are so many areas around the shopping center to be discovered.
The beautiful couple! With teachers that look this good, I’m sure their students never skip a day of class
In preparation for the big day, both Justine and Matt started dieting and exercising and to date, have lost almost 20 lbs each! They look amazing!!
Matt also coaches Varsity Baseball at a local High School so it was only fitting we take the engagement shoot to the field.
Thanks for a great session Justine & Matt! Wishing you both all the best!
Had a great family-engagement session with Kelly & Bryan yesterday. Kelly’s beautiful 9-year old daughter, Nia, came along to join in on the fun! Here’s a sneak peek!
We snuck into the Visionary Art Museum so the family could do a quick wardrobe change. There was a window on the top floor near the “Fun House” restaurant that got some fabulous golden light. I believe it’s against the rules to photograph inside the museum but we managed to snap a few shots before the security guard caught us.
My sister, Phuong, also came along for this shoot. Here are some of her awesome shots! I absolutely LOVE the one below!
I try to meet with my wedding clients and get to know the couple before the wedding day. That’s why I love engagement sessions! Engagement session are great. It allows you to get comfortable in front of the camera and with your wedding photographer before the big day. I love it when I meet a client and we instantly click. I had an engagement session last night with Alex and Charlie in Baltimore. Over the past couple of months I’ve spoken over the phone and through email with Alex about her wedding day. One of my awesome co-workers referred me to the couple and yesterday was the first time I’ve met Alex and Charlie in person.
Alex and Charlie live in Baltimore not too far from Federal Hill. As I pulled up in my big red pick-up, I knew that this was going to be an awesome couple because- 1.) Alex was wearing a pair of kick’n vintage cowgirl boots & 2.) Charlie drove a giant Ford F-150 and was sporting flip-flops.
Here are a few sneak peeks at their e-session.
I’m looking forward to photographing the wedding in a couple of months!
I was so happy to see the sun today!
Amy & Dave’s engagement session was originally scheduled in early February…but then the snow came…and came some more! Wait- more like record breaking blizzard. Each time we rescheduled it seemed mother nature had other plans bringing flurries, to rain, and even thunderstorms. We finally decided to do a Friday evening session! I love evening sessions, there’s a few minutes of what some photographers like to call “the golden hour” where the light hits just right!
We started off in Patterson Park, not far from Amy and Dave’s house. Seriously, I could have spent hours photographing them if they didn’t stop me. The light was perfect and so was the couple!
This weekend couldn’t have been more perfect! I was so excited to do TWO engagement sessions back to back!
Mariecel is a former co-worker and very good friend of mine. We first met nine years ago in Virginia. Both fresh out of college and working our first “real” design jobs. We’ve shared many laughs, tears, and sweat over the years! YES- SWEAT! We both joined the corporate bootcamp at work, ran miles and miles around Tysons Corner Mall every morning and even worked out in the pouring rain! But enough about us…let’s hear about the bride & groom to-be!
Mariecel is a city girl with a flair for fashion and design. Mike is a small town boy with a carefree and laid back personality. They couldn’t be more opposite yet that’s what makes them perfect for each other. I felt honored to be able to photograph their engagement.
We were hoping to get some great sunset shots at the Washington Monument and Reflecting Pool but there were too many clouds in the sky! It still worked out since the overcast made for great photos! Special thanks to my hubby who acted as my chauffeur, body guard, and photo assistant/flash stand! He was so surprisingly patient!
I love it when couples are up for anything!
Saturday was a windy and blistering cold day but Lieu & Adam were great sports! We did an engagement sitting in downtown Annapolis and then hit the sushi bar to warm up! I absolutely love the textures and colors in downtown. I think the shots turned out great despite us freezing our tushies off!
Here are a few selects:
