part 2: hillary & toms intimate cambridge wedding {cambridge maryland wedding photographer}

Hillary and Tom decided to do a “First Look” prior to their ceremony. I love it when couples plan a “first look”, it gives them a great opportunity to spend a little quiet time prior to the hustle and bustle of the day to just BE with each other.

Hillary has the cutest little boy named Harper. This kid is going to grow up to be a heartbreaker!

I absolutely loved the thumbprint tree guest book!

Putting their own spin on tradition, Hillary and Tom both walked down the aisle together :)

Loved how they incorporated little Harper in their ceremony :)

The couple’s friend, Christopher, did a wonderful job officiating the wedding. He knew the couple so well which made the ceremony more personable and intimate.

Hillary and Tom,  you two are absolutely stunning together…

Harper with his Dad, Jimmy.

Seriously, can the view get any better than this?

Harper and his mom share a special moment together…

Congratulations Tom & Hillary! Thank-you for letting us be apart of your big day. Wishing you much love and happiness. :*

hillary & tom : an intimate wedding in cambridge part 1 {maryland wedding photographer}

September was a month full of rain… and of course, let’s not forget the hurricane that hit and left many of us without power for days. September 24th started off with an overcast and a high chance of rain but mother nature held off in time for Hillary and Tom’s wedding.

Hillary and Tom wanted a small intimate wedding with family and close friends. The wedding took place at a friends beautiful house hidden in Cambridge, Maryland right near the water.

I loved how the couple incorporated family into their big day. Hillary’s mom made the beautiful embroidered towels for guests to take home and her engagement ring belonged to Tom’s late mother.

Due to the heavy amount of rain Maryland received there were plenty of mosquitoes who showed up to greet us. Hillary and Tom came prepared with plenty of bug spray for themselves and their guests!

Up next… Part 2: The First Look

I am honored every time a client decides to book me to photograph their wedding day. However, there is nothing more nerve racking then when a fellow photographer requests my services. I met Jessica and Coleman a few months ago. They had found my name through a friend of a friend’s cousin. Both Jessica and Coleman recently moved to Maryland.  Originally from Delaware, Coleman is a well versed and experienced photographer. Though it was both Coleman and Jessica’s second marriage, it was their first marriage to each other so they decided to make it a true celebration. Jessica has experience in event planning so both she and Coleman worked hard to cover every little detail of the wedding from the decorations to the food. Here are a few photos from their big day. Congrats Jessica & Coleman! Thanks for letting me capture you special day!

The wedding ceremony and reception took place in a beautiful church that was literally right next door to the couple.

Jessica’s eldest son walked her down the isle.

Jessica and Coleman’s beautiful children!

The super detailed yummy treat table!

charlie & alex : river house queenstown maryland wedding

I knew I would have fun photographing Charlie & Alex’s wedding from the moment I met them for their engagement session. They are such a sweet, fun, and laid back couple. The wedding took place at the beautiful River House Golf Course in Queenstown, Maryland. The prebridal took place at Alex’s parent house which wasn’t too far from the venue.

Alex did a wonderful job with the small details of the wedding even down to the jewelry.

The entire bridal party was gorgeous!

Following in her father’s footsteps, Alex is a culinary chef. It was only fitting that we took a portrait with her and one of her favorite cookbooks.

I absolutely LOVE Alex’s parent’s gourmet kitchen. I wished I could have loaded it in my pickup and taken it home…

One of Alex’s bridemaid’s daughter, Dakota.  I could have photographed her for hours!
The many faces of little Miss Dakota.

Alex & Charlie decided to do a “first look” prior to the ceremony. I absolutely LOVE the idea, it gives the couple an intimate moment by themselves prior to all of the wedding festivities. Charlie stood handsomely in anticipation to see his bride-to-be. Alex was absolutely stunning. She walked towards Charlie smiling and giggling. She was radiating with joy. What unfolded next was an unforgettable moment…

This is the angle my sister got.

The ceremony was perfect. It was set under a canopy of trees right near the water.

Alex’s proud papa walking his daughter down the isle…

Remember what I said about small details? LOVED this idea. Guest could find their seats at this wonderful table seating tree!

DJ Kopec
kept the dance floor packed with the kick’n music and an awesome light show!

A wonderful surprise cake topper created by one of Alex’s chef friend. Why the Domino’s Sugar sign? Alex and Charlie live in the heart of Baltimore and their roof top deck has an AWESOME view of the actual Domino’s Sugar sign!

Alex is a hoot- usually the bride feeds the groom during the cake-cutting and vice-a-versa. But in this case, Alex fed herself first! My kind of gal!

Congratulation Alex & Charlie! You two were wonderful to work with and we wish you all the best! Thank-you for allowing us to share in your special day!!

tropical wedding paradise {yung & brad dominican republic wedding continued}

As you might recall from this post, I recently returned from the Dominican Republic, Punta Cana for Yung & Brad’s destination wedding. I have known Yung since preschool and through all the years we’ve managed to stay best of friends. It’s hard to believe that 27 years ago, we were running around on the playground and racing each other on our tricycles.  I am very fortunate to have such a reliable, loyal, and caring friend. I was so happy when Yung met Brad, someone who made her happy and someone who she calls her best friend.

We stayed at The Gran Bahia Principe Hotel & Resort. They did an excellent job with the wedding details down to the post ceremony surprises, like the candle light hot tub sprinkled with rose petals for the couple later that night.

Yung’s hair was done by the Salon & Spa on the resort and of course, Yung did her own beautiful makeup.

The wedding took place right on the beautiful beaches of Punta Cana. Here’s the couple’s first look….

Give me 20 minutes alone with the couple and we can make beautiful photos…

Congrats Yung & Brad! Can’t wait for next month’s Chinese/Viet Celebration!

once upon a dream {dream wedding albums}

I love exploring new vendors, especially if it means offering my clients something new, different, and of course top quality. In my research I stumbled upon The Dream Album Company. What I liked about this company was 1.) High quality hand crafted albums 2.) Supporting small business  3.) Local (they are based in good old Maryland!).  The ordering process took sometime but that’s just because the company wanted to make sure the end product was perfect and helped me fix any possible issues such as alignment, resolution, and bleeds. Thank-you Dream Team! I was so excited when the package finally arrived. I felt like a kid on Christmas morning!

Here’s a peek at Lieu & Adam’s DREAM wedding album.

Dream Albums are available with my premium wedding packages and also offered for my portrait sessions.

mariecel & mike’s intimate wedding {virginia wedding photographer}

I recently got back from the Dominican Republic, Punta Cana. Just in time to witness Mariecel’s & Michael’s marriage!

Mariecel & Michael have two weddings planned,  a small Catholic church wedding and a larger wedding at a beautiful mansion in Virginia later in September. I was honored when they asked me to photograph their church wedding. The guest count was kept to immediate family and it was the perfect intimate church wedding. The weather was perfect, the church was beautiful, and the couple was glowing.

This brooch is from Mariecel’s good friend Holly. Mariecel, Holly, and I used to work together as designers in the corporate world. Holly has been living and working in Korea for the past two years. She’s also quite the B-girl. :) When Mariecel went back to the Phillipines to get her wedding dress designed, Holly took a trip to Manilla to visit her. She gave Mariecel two beautiful brooches from Korea. This is just one of them. Love how well it worked with Mariecel’s church day gown.

Mariecel has two wedding dresses. She selected a beautiful lace for the church wedding gown. So delicately detailed.

Mariecel is a shoe connoisseur so it was only appropriate that these were her something blue.

Mariecel is a very talented designer. She designed the invitations and everything down to the last detail on the big wedding day. The middle diamond on her ring is her grandmother’s. This is her beautiful something old, yet new at the same time!

The beautiful church. Love the natural lighting and the high ceilings. And ofcourse, the bride and groom in the middle of it all.

We headed to Old Town Alexandria for a few post wedding photos.

Back to the house for some delicious cake! Cake by Fluffy Thoughts

sneak peek- amy & dave beachside wedding {gibson island wedding photographer}

Amy & Dave’s wedding took place this past Saturday at the Gibson Island Club, a beautiful and picturesque setting surrounded by the Magothy River and Chesapeake Bay. Saturday’s weather couldn’t be more perfect. Partly sunny skies, cool breeze, a beautiful bride, a handsome groom, and wedding guests that sure know how to party!

Amy, you are an absolutely stunning bride. You made the job easy.

The handkerchief and ring are near and dear to Amy’s heart. They both belonged to her grandmother who recently passed away. I believe our loved ones who pass are always around us and I’m sure Amy’s grandmother was there to share in the joy of the day.

The handsome groom and the glowing bride :)

A beautiful and emotional moment between Amy and her dad before they walked down the isle (captured by my sister). :)

My heart smiles every time I see two people so in love.

Seriously, the Irish know how to rock it. Live music was provided by the Black Tie band, as well as, Amy’s three brothers who had many fans in the crowd. Both bands were so great the crowd never left the dance floor…not even for cake!

Venue: Gibson Island Club
Flowers: Pat Stringer
Cake: Graul’s Market
Band: Washington Talent Agency- Black Tie Band
